Catherine Ames has worked as a landscape photographer for over twenty years. Originally from Switzerland, she moved to America when she was 21 to study first sociology and then film, all the while maintaining her passion for photography.

The background of her work is large format black and white photography. On 9/11/01 she lost her darkroom and flat in Lower Manhattan, so decided to relocate to London, where she discovered digital photography and colour.

Since then she has been breaking all the rules of traditional landscape photography, her style altering dramatically with the introduction of colour and movement in her work.
