Biography |
|
Judy Wheaton's early training was in science for a career in medicine.
She changed direction, to read modern languages, and taught for a number of years before another switch into running her own manufacturing company.
Returning to Devon, where she spent most of her time as a child, she started to draw, paint and work with clay. Since 98 Judy has run a weekly life drawing class in Dean Prior and exhibited locally.
Artist's Statement
When I draw I have the sensation of dancing over the paper.
I use my left, non-dominant hand, so the process is guided by the right side of my brain and as instinctual as moving to a tune. I look carefully, as much as draw, and then do it quickly. My aim is to produce drawing where every line counts, and yet is free and energetic. The unused, so-called negative, space is as important as the image and gives me the deepest satisfaction - the silence, so to speak, between the notes.
